If you love boxing and other combat sports, this article is for you
Boxing is one of the most famous and respected sports in the world.
The biggest stars of this discipline, such as Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, have gone down in history forever, becoming not only legends of the sport but also symbols of popular culture. Boxing has almost always been associated with bookmakers, and nowadays not much has changed on that front. If you are also a boxing fan and would like to try your hand at betting, then you have come to the right place. Our article, co-written with experts, will tell you everything you need to know about professional boxing.
While boxing, like most sports, is all about who wins and who loses, that doesn’t mean we should limit ourselves to one basic type of betting. Let’s take a closer look at the most popular of the other types of events.
Table of Contents
BETS ON THE RESULT (1X2)
This is an unfading classic. That is, betting on who will win the duel. This is a three-way bet, because there is also the possibility of a draw. A draw is usually rated very high by bookmakers. Although draws do not appear often in boxing, they do occur even at the highest level, as was the case during the famous WBC heavyweight belt fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
HOW MANY ROUNDS (ABOVE / BELOW)
Another extremely popular market in the boxing world. In the case of this bet, we have to predict how many rounds the fight will last. Duels at the highest level are usually concluded in rounds 10 or 12, while bouts of lower ranked players sometimes take place in a shorter stretch. The player’s task is to correctly predict whether the duel will be longer or shorter than the specified number of rounds.
HOW THE BOUT WILL END
This market is a slightly modified version of 1X2. However, it is harder to get into, because in addition to the requirement to predict the outcome of the fight, we still need to correctly indicate whether the duel will end early with knockouts/kickdowns or disqualification, or will be decided on points. It is worth noting that the odds on this bet are very attractive, especially if the duel has no clear favorite.
WHEN THE FIGHT IS OVER
Another market for slightly more advanced players and boxing experts. The player’s job is to determine when the duel will end. There are two forms of this event. In the case of the first one, the player must predict in which round the fight will end, of course. In the second, we have the ability to choose the range of rounds in which the duel will end, such as 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. This type of bet is usually easier to make, but at the same time the odds are clearly lower.
THE FIGHT WILL END EARLY OR AFTER THE SCORE
The last of the popular markets for betting on boxing. In this case, we bet on whether the duel will end early or whether the judges’ decision will be needed for a final verdict. This is usually not the most expensive market, but on the other hand, it’s not that hard to guess. Individual bookmakers’ offerings may describe this bet differently, but in principle it is a two-way bet.
